Accord © by Kristye Addison Dudley Love is in the air. Being a military wife brings new appreciation to holidays. In 2013 my husband was deployed for every holiday from Dec 2012 to Mid July 2013. Which included my sons first Christmas, New Years Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, my daughters 3rd bday, my husband's birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day, my 40th birthday, all long weekends and of course  Valentines Day. So this year I am going to hold him extra tight and celebrate how much I love him. Painting these dancers really makes me miss my performance days. In the Spring of 2001, I was auditioning for the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders (AFC).  I was excited, scared and completely clueless as to what being a professional cheerleader meant. I also had no idea of how it would change me and my life for the better. The support of my teammates encouraged me to pick up my paintbrush and paint again.   Ballet Dancer - Work in Progress © Kristye Addison Dudley Day 18 - it's been a wet rainy day here, but no complaints. I've been enjoying my family and listening to the sound of the water outside. I've been hunkering down in the studio this month to paint. Tonight, I painted with my supportive husband by my side. I haven't finished this piece, but I did love having my best friend with me. As a former gymnast, collegiate cheerleader and professional cheerleader it's no surprise that dancers are a favorite subject matter of mine. I have always enjoyed painting the dynamic expression of the body. Figure painting is something that I am continually drawn to. Now that I am at the half way point of 30 paintings in 30 days challenge , I am going to focus on more figures. The new palette of colors that I am using is proving a bright change of perspective to the stylized figures.
